Minecrafter job listings and jobs for pharmacist technicians can be a tough sell.
A search on JobCentre.com for the job “Pharmacy Technician” will bring up more than 2,500 listings.
However, most of the jobs are in the health and beauty industries, including some that cater to the beauty industry, such as cosmetics and personal care products.
“It’s not a very high paying job,” said David Macpherson, the president of a job fair in Johannesburg.
“It’s just a little bit of a hobby.
I don’t think people have a lot of job options.”
Job seekers are also likely to have a hard time finding the right qualifications.
The South African Medical Association (SAMA) lists more than 1,500 jobs for Pharmacy Technicians, and the Health and Beauty Council of South Africa (HBCSA) lists over 1,400 positions for pharmacy technicians.
“The health and wellbeing sector is very, very small in terms of the amount of jobs,” said Mokombe Mbela, director of the SAMA’s South Africa regional office.
“So people are looking to fill these positions, and it’s difficult to find people who are qualified.”
The lack of job listings can also mean people don’t know where to start.
“They [job seekers] have to start at the bottom of the food chain,” said Dr Macphersons son, Ben Macphersen.
“They don’t have a clue how to look for opportunities.”
Ben, who is an apprentice pharmacist technician, says the job market is tough, especially for people who have just moved to the city.
“You can’t go into any stores and ask people what their problem is,” Ben said.
“I don’t want to tell anyone what I’m doing, because it’s a bit scary.”
Job searching can be hard for people with no formal training.
Ben is also unsure how to navigate the job search process when he has no experience.
“If I’m applying to a job that doesn’t have any experience, it’s going to be a bit of an uphill battle,” Ben says.
“If you’re applying for a job where you know you can do it, you’re more likely to succeed.”
It’s easy to get discouraged by the lack of information out there.
Ben’s parents, who moved from Zambia in 1998, don’t live in South African township and have no clue how many jobs there are for Pharmacists.
“We had a great job when we were younger and we never really got to know our job,” Ben Macpherson said.
“Now that we’re older, I think we need to know more.”
I’ve been applying for jobs that have no experience, and I’m not sure how to go about finding jobs.
“There are some resources out there, such a South African Council for the Arts and Humanities’ website.
However it’s best to seek help from an experienced job recruiter, because job searches can be daunting.”
“Some of the job listings are very vague. “
People may not even know the names of the companies.””

If you or someone you know is struggling to find a job, there are resources available online and at the local community centre.
They can offer help and support to those looking for a career.
“Most of the time, it just comes down to you, and your desire to be employed,” Karyn said.
